18-02
काम्य कर्मों के न्यास परित्याग को संन्यास और नित्य नैमित्तिक काम्य आदि सभी कर्मों के फल के त्याग को त्याग कहते हैं |
The abandonment of Karma(work) meant for fulfillment of desires is called "Sannyas"( hence doing work like eating,drinking only for sustenance of life) and the renunciation of the fruits(result) of all the actions/work is called "Tyaga".

यज्ञ दान तप कर्मों का त्याग नहीं करना चाहिए, यह पावन अर्थ चित्तशुद्धिकारक होते हैं |
Yagya(selfless work for public well-being), charity, austerity should not be abandoned, these help in keeping a pure,calm mind.
18-07
मोह के वशीभूत होकर कर्तव्य कर्म त्याग 'तामस त्याग' होता है | किसी से सुन कर्ममात्र का फल बंधन है यदि किसी ने शरीर से कर्म करना छोड़ दिया पर मन से कर्म करता रहा तो वह तामस त्याग है |
Renunciation of one's duties under the sway of delusion(daydreaming,wishful thinking) is 'Tamas renunciation'. Hearing from someone that the fruits/result of one's actions/work keeps the soul bound to the body, if someone stops working with the body but continues to work with the mind(keeps thinking about worldly objects,desires), then it is a renunciation of 'Tamas'(ignorant,foolish being).
18-10
त्यागी के सामने शुभ अशुभ या इंद्रियविषय उपस्थित होने पर उसमें द्वेष या क्षोभ का भाव नहीं होता तथा दूसरी और उसके सहज भाव से पुण्य कर्म होने पर उसमें आसक्ति या पुनः आवृत्ति की भावना नहीं होती |
आत्म-अनात्म विवेक अनुसार शरीर, इंद्रिय ,मन ,बुद्धि अनात्मा है तथा जन्म-मरण क्षुधा-तृषा शोक-मोह इनके धर्म है,न की इनको प्रकाशित करने वाला आत्मा के | जो पुरुष शुभ से राग ,अशुभ से द्वेष नहीं करता वही सुशिक्षित सुसंस्कृत है | मेधावी संशयरहित होता है ,वस्तु का अपूर्ण ज्ञान ही संशय उत्पन्न करता है अन्यथा नहीं |
When good, bad or sensory objects/topics are present in front of a "Tyaagi"(person who has renounced result/fruits of all work), he does not feel malice or anger, and on the other hand, when he does good deeds spontaneously, he does not have the feeling of attachment or recurrence for that work.
According to conscious/non-conscious classification; body, senses, mind, intellect are physical(separate from soul/conscious) and birth-death, hunger-desire, grief-attachment are their behaviour(physical changes occur in them through energy exchanges),and not the soul/conscious who just illuminates these emotions. The person who does not have attachment to auspicious events and does not hate inauspicious, he is well educated about energy and its nature is considered cultured. A wise yogi is free from doubt, only incomplete knowledge of energy and the interactions of the physical worldly objects creates doubt, not otherwise.
18-17
'मैं करता हूं' ऐसा जिसका भाव नहीं है तथा जिसकी बुद्धि आसक्ति रहित है वह किसी प्रकार के कर्म से बंधनग्रस्त नहीं होता | स्थितप्रज्ञ किसी के अहित करने के बारे में सोच भी नहीं सकत ा ;सब कुछ समत्वबुद्धि से करता है, बुद्धि विकाररहित होती है |
One who does not have the thinking of 'I do'(the physical being is doing some work in the sense 'creating some new energy',because all physical world interactions are energy changes from one form to other) and whose intelligence is free from attachment is not bound by any kind of action/work. Wise,calm,equanimous yogi cannot even think of harming anyone; He does everything with equanimity, the intellect is free from disorders.
18-27
विषयासक्त कर्मफलइच्छुक लोभी हिंसात्मक अपवित्र सिद्धि में हर्ष और असिद्धि में शोक से पागल होने वाला राजस कर्ता है |
A being with "rajas" nature who works for and has strong desires for the fruits/result of action/work is greedy, violent, impure, maddened by joy in success and grief in failure.
18-28
अयुक्त ,असावधान, अस्थिर ,उत्साहरहित, चंचल बुद्धि वाला, शिक्षा से रहित,ऐंठ, अनम्र, धूर्त नैष्कृतिक प्रतिशोधी, आलसी ,अप्रसन्नचित्त ,दीर्घसूत्री अर्थ अल्पकाल साध्य कार्य में बहुत विलंब करने वाला तामस कर्ता होता है |
Inattentive, careless, unenthusiastic, fickle minded, devoid of education, twisted, ignorant, sly, vindictive, lazy, displeased, procrastinating means delaying a lot in short-term doable work is a "tamasic" nature being.
18-37
जो ज्ञान,वैराग्य ,ध्यान साधना का सुख कष्टसाध्य अनभ्यस्त और अननुभूत होने से प्रारंभ में विषतुल्य प्रतीत होता धीरे-धीरे अभ्यास बढ़ने पर परिणाम की दशा में अमृत्तुल्य बन जाता ,अंतर्मुखी बनी हुई आत्मविषयणी बुद्धि की निर्मलता से मिलने वाला वह सुख सात्विक होता है |
The satisfaction of knowledge, detachment, meditation, which initially appears to be poison due to being unpracticed, unaccustomed and unexplored, gradually becomes nectar-like(pure,blissful,satisfying) when the practice increases, and after rigorous practice, the happiness that comes from the purity of the introspective intellect is eternal bliss.
18-38
विषयों और इंद्रियों के संयोग से सुख प्राप्त आरंभ में जो अमृत समान किंतु परिणाम में रोगादि जनक होने से विषतुल्य कष्टदायक होता है, वह 'राजस' सुख होता है |
The pleasure derived from the combination of worldly objects and sensory topics, which in the beginning is like nectar(temporary bliss), but in the end is painful like poison resulting in ailments afflicting the mind and body, is "rajas" pleasure.
18-39
आरंभ तथा अनुबंध अंत में मोह में फंसाने वाला निद्रा ,आलस्य ,प्रमाद से उत्पन्न 'तामस' सुख होता है |
सच्चा सुख आत्मनिष्ठ होता है ,भौतिक पदार्थों के इंद्रिय संबंधों से प्राप्त नहीं हो सकता | सात्विक सुख अतींद्रिय होता है जिसे बुद्धि द्वारा ही अनुभव किया जा सकता है | बुद्धि ही ऐसा तत्व है जो प्रकृति के त्रिगुणात्मक व्यवहार का भी अनुभव करती है और आत्मस्वरूप ब्रह्मा का बोध भी उससे होता है |
From the beginning and till the end of the period when being is bound to attachments/desires by wishful thinking/daydreaming, sleep, laziness, carelessness, which is called "tamas" pleasure.
True/eternal happiness is subjective(knowing the soul/conscious), cannot be obtained from sensory interactions with material objects. "Satvik" happiness is transcendental and can be experienced only through the intellect. Intellect is the only element that can understand the threefold energy exchanges in nature and the pure formless electromagnetic energy form is also understood through it.
18-46
ब्रह्मा की पूजा व्यक्ति अपने स्वभाव प्राप्त कर्मों द्वारा करता है ना कि पत्र-पुष्प अर्पित कर घंटा निनाद कर | निष्काम भाव से कर्तव्य कर ब्रह्मार्पण कर देना परम सिद्धि प्रदान करता है |
Energy is worshipped by one's actions(work) as per being's nature and not by offering leaves and flowers to deities and ringing bells. Selflessly doing one's duty and offering it to the universe (totality of all energy in universe) leads to ultimate satisfaction/fulfillment.
18-47
उत्तमता से संपादित परधर्म की अपेक्षा विगुण (कुछ अल्प गुण वाला) जो स्वधर्म है ,वह प्रशस्त होता है |
Doing dutiful work as per one's own nature, which maybe possessing fewer qualities(lowly as deemed by society), is much better in comparison to doing work not as per one's own nature even if done with perfection by extreme practice.
18-62
सर्वभाव (ह्रदय मन प्राण आदि) से जो परब्रह्मा की शरण लेता है,उसके अनुग्रह से वह परम शांति और शाश्वत स्थान प्राप्त करेगा |
व्यक्ति के समग्र व्यक्तित्व को अर्थ उसके मन, ह्रदय, प्राण ,शरीर को भगवान के प्रति उन्मीलित हो जाना है | भगवान के ज्ञान से ,भगवत प्रेम ,भागवत संकल्प से भर जाना है, भगवन्मय हो जाना है | भीतर से भी, बाहर से भी भगवान के साथ एक हो जाना है | यही है गीता का सर्वांगपरिपूर्ण योग ,पूर्ण ज्ञानयोग ,पूर्ण भक्तियोग, पूर्ण कर्मयोग | पूर्णयोग की सिद्धि है - भागवत जीवन |
One who takes refuge in knowledge of energy and its nature with his all (heart, mind, soul, etc.), by God's grace, he will attain supreme peace and eternal abode.
A being should have his mind, heart, soul, body to be immersed towards God (totality of all energy in the universe). To be filled with God's knowledge, God's love, God's resolve, to become God-like. One has to become one with God from within as well as from outside. This is the all-round complete yoga of Gita, complete knowledge yoga, complete devotional yoga, complete karma(work) yoga. The perfect state of complete yoga is - Bhagwat life(life in unity with God).
